Moving in

You should be careful and show diligence when you move into cooperative housing. We recommend that you review the rental unit along with the seller for the following:

• Check installations
• Ensure that appliances, toilets, faucets, showers, etc. work
• Check whether windows and doors stick or don’t close properly, and ensure that the locks work
• Check that everything is otherwise as agreed in the transfer agreement

In the transfer agreement, you can find a guide on how to deal with any shortcomings in the dwelling. It is a good idea to draw up a list of defects to be signed by both you and the seller. It is also a good idea to take pictures as evidence.

You and the seller should read water, heat and electricity meters together. You are responsible for taking over the agreement with the utility company. We contact the utilities regarding water and heat, so here you must make sure that we get the meter readings.

In addition, you must ensure that the seller provides you all the keys to the property and to the dwelling. Finally, be sure to sign up to pay your monthly housing fee with PBS, so payments run automatically. In this way you will avoid additional costs and unnecessary problems due to lack of payments.

Insurance
It is important that you make sure to take out home insurance to cover your personal belongings, etc. If you would like to learn more about home insurance, you should contact your insurance company. The property is insured by the cooperative housing association.
