Many events and tasks in a housing cooperative repeat from year to year. The most significant recurring events throughout the year typically include the financial and budget meetings, as well as the annual general meeting. These events play a crucial role in the cooperative's financial management, and during the annual general meeting, members are elected to the board. It's also at this meeting that the board typically presents proposals for construction and renovation projects, where discussions and decisions among the cooperative's shareholders are particularly important.

Decisions and deadlines in the housing cooperative

Throughout the year, various deadlines, requirements, and board decisions must be observed. Some of these are due to legal requirements or the cooperative's bylaws. It is critically important that the board, in collaboration with the cooperative's administrator and auditor, makes decisions and initiates actions for which the board is responsible well in advance, ensuring that the deadlines are met. Below is a graphical representation of the year's events, as it appears for most housing cooperatives. The model is based on a housing cooperative with the calendar year as its fiscal year. If the cooperative has a so-called "irregular fiscal year," such as from July to June, the graphical model will be adjusted proportionally.

Exceptions to the annual calendar

There may be tasks or events not mentioned in the annual schedule, such as extraordinary general meetings.

We closely monitor the ongoing tasks and deadlines that must be observed in the housing cooperative, in close dialogue with the board. We also encourage all board members to stay informed about upcoming tasks and any deadlines that may apply.
